The swell dropped to the 4 to 5 foot (2 metre) range for Day 3 of the Telstra Drug Aware Pro with pristine conditions on offer. The call was made by contest officials to run three Rounds of the Women’s event and cull the field down to just the eight Quarterfinalists.
Near perfect conditions greeted surfers at Margaret River for Day 3 of the Telstra Drug Aware Pro today. Six foot (2 metre) sets rolled into the world famous reef break, groomed by a light offshore wind, making the line-up the perfect stage for the world’s best surfers to put on a show.
Something had to give. A stellar week of weather, waves and surfing, but it couldn’t last. Fortunately for competition, it wasn’t the waves that packed in, but a severe low pressure system caused the heavens to open.
The penultimate and semi finals day of competition commenced, with inspirational action taking place from the very first heat.
