 United Airlines will remove service fees for surfboards, wakeboards, and paddleboards for customers traveling to or from California. The decision takes effect on October 5, 2018, and exempts customers from paying the previous $150 or $200 service fee on direct United Airlines or United Express itineraries that originate or end at any California airport. The airline company also announced a donation of $50,000 to Sustainable Surf, a non-governmental organization with headquarters in California.
