More than 2500 people opposed to public land grab on Gold Coast beaches, in a peaceful Sunday protest, at North Kirra Beach. The authorities have understood what was at stake, but the dossier is not closed. Campbell Newman, Premier of Queensland, rejected a $2 billion ocean terminal from happening at North Kirra. Gold Coast Ocean Terminal (GCOT) group responded by saying they would resubmit new plans at the North Kirra site without the ocean terminal for cruise ships, but replace it with a multi-billion dollar integrated tourism resort and casino on the same site.
