The Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast has officially opened the 2014 ASP World Tour, at Snapper Rocks, Coolangatta. The opening heat of the elite surfing season, the speed, power and repertoire of Jeremy Flores paid off. The Frenchman won the first clash of the year. “This is my eighth, maybe ninth, Quiksilver Pro on the Gold Coast so even though I’m 25 I feel like the old guy. It’s tough out there because the tides are a bit high, I always knew the first couple of heats would be harder but they have to start the event at some point,” says Flores.
