Three-to-five foot (1 – 1.5 metre) waves greeted surfers, as they entered Round 2 of competition at the Oakley Lowers Pro 2015. In the last heat of Round 1, Kelly Slater showed that being 43 is an advantage in a wave like Lower Trestles. The Floridian showed his natural commitment and moved through to Round 2, behind an in-form Ryan Callinan. “My first event here at Lower Trestles, the waves were perfect. It was my second week of my senior year of high school, and it was a perfect week for me. I had a lot of fun. Things have changed a lot since then, but this is a special place,” said Slater.
