The Azores Islands will host the 2016 Vissla ISA World Junior Surfing Championship, between September 17th-24h. The Portuguese archipelago located in the heart of the Atlantic Ocean has been chosen by the International Surfing Association (ISA) to host a competition that, in the past, crowned champions such as Matt Wilkinson, Stephanie Gilmore, Julian Wilson, Owen Wright, Jordy Smith, Sally Fitzgibbons, Alejo Muniz, Laura Enever, Filipe Toledo. The 2016 ISA World Junior Surfing Championship will be run at Praia do Monte Verde, Ribeira Grande, in São Miguel. It is the first the competition is held in Europe since 2008.
