If you’re a surfer and you’re living 250 miles (400 kilometers) away from the ocean, the only alternative is the river. In Mendoza, Argentina, waves can only be found in a narrow river. They are the pioneers of river surfing in Argentina. In Mendoza, on the eastern side of the Andes, fresh water means stoke. That’s why Leandro Maturano and Beto Platero got their wetsuits on and tested the local ride. River Mendoza has one of the smallest static waves in the world, but that doesn’t keep a hardcore community of surfing enthusiasts out of the water.
