Yadin Nicol Qualifies for 2012 ASP World Tour

The 2011 ASP World Tour is now over, and the ASP have their Top 34 surfers for 2012 who will do battle for the 2012 ASP World Title. The tour kicks off on Australia’s Gold Coast, February 2012.

One unfortunate surfer Yadin Nicol has secured an injury wild card entry onto the ASP Tour after he was forced out of contention earlier this year. Yadin broke his right fibula while on a surf trip in Japan. Hawaii’s John John Florence benefited from Nicol’s calamity moving up from No.33 in the ASP World Tour.

Nicol remained positive,  hoping to return to the 2011 tour in time:

Luckily there’s a light at the end of the tunnel It could have been worse, I could have broken my leg and not qualified. I am in California until my leg heals up and I’m going to do everything I can to get it strong with my trainer Andy Shmiess. Hopefully it won’t take that long, I really want to surf at Pipe and that’s 12 weeks away, so if I can get back by then I’d be stoked, if not then hopefully I’ll get the injury wildcard and be able to put a singlet on at Snapper.

Yadin Nicol has since qualified for the ASP World Tour after being awarded an injury wildcard. He was the final surfer to be given the call up for 2012.
