Tiago Pires, the only Portuguese surfer on the ASP World Championship Tour, is out of the Volcom Fiji Pro 2013, due to injury. In April, Pires suffered a dry-docking injury to his knee which got him out of the Billabong Rio Pro 2013. Doctors predicted four-to-six weeks with these type of injuries, but the Portuguese star is still not 100% fit. “Unfortunately I won’t be able to surf in Fiji. My doctor gave me a 6-8 week rehab period and I’m just a little over 5 weeks now. I tried my best to be ready for this event but after surfing today, I understood that I’m not capable of”, explains Tiago Pires.
