The Quiksilver In Memory of Eddie Aikau 2012/2013 is a “No Go”. Again, the Hawaiian winter didn’t deliver the necessary extra large to giant swell. February 28th marks the end of the event window period. Although wave face heights of approximately 18 to 20 feet will be building on the final day, the contest requirement of 35- to 40-foot rides will not be seen. Waimea Bay is the way it is. The surfing life story of Eddie Aikau proves that the wait is good and will only pump new hopes for the next season.
