COOLANGATTA/QLD (6th March, 2015): THE boys’ edition of the annual Wahu Surf Camp wrapped up at the Hurley Surfing Australia High Performance Centre (HPC) today, with the country’s top grommets raising the performance bar across the three-day camp.The 10 junior surfers won the Under 14 divisions during the Wahu Surfer Groms Comps held across Australia during summer and were invited to the all-expenses paid training camp at the HPC.The boys’ camp coincided with a small ESE swell with the camp’s qualifying surfers enjoying fun, but small conditions.The Wahu Surfer Groms Comps is the only national competition series to fully cater for the micro groms from Under 8 through to Under 14 and consisted of 10 events across New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria, Western Australia, South Australia and Tasmania.Attending the boys’ camps were: Zac Paterson (Avoca), Ethan Stocks (Korora), Jackson Roberts (Bateau Bay), Ben Gradisen (Gracetown), Eli Carr (Lennox Heads), Jay Brown (Lilli Pilli), Jaggar Bartholomew (Coolangatta), Jayden Schram (Torquay), Ruka Taite (Seaford) and Findlay Padman (Como West).The girls’ camp will start on Monday and will include Bodhi Leigh-Jones (Avalon), Carly Shanahan (Wooli), Tru Starling (Collaroy), Emma Cattlin (Yallingup), Zahli Kelly (Wooloowin), Cedar Leigh-Jones (Avalon), Pacha Luque-Light (Tugun), Daisy Corbett (Phillip Island), Yasmin Hardy (Hallett Cove) and Nica Frayne (Mona Vale).During each camp, the aspiring young athletes are put through their paces with a combination of surfing and video analysis, competition strategies and strength and gymnastic training.The Wahu Surfer Groms Comps have helped to launch the careers of many of Australia’s most promising junior surfers with more than 900 children taking part in the 2014/15 event series.Wahu Surf Camp Dates:Boys’ Camp: 4-6 March, 2015Girls’ Camp: 9-11 March, 2015
