The race for a spot in the 2015 World Surf League is on, as the 2014 Vans World Cup of Surfing enters Round 3, at Sunset Beach, Hawaii. Jack Freestone, Jesse Mendes and Willian Cardoso were unable to advance in the competition. Their fate now rests with a handful of surfers who remain in the event and can overtake them in this event to qualify. On the other hand, Joan Duru, Charles Martin, Ricardo Christie, and Dusty Payne won their heats and have improved their chances of qualification. Leonardo Fiovaranti, 16, needs to reach the semifinals to fulfill his dream.
