Australian surfers will paddle out in protest against the two billion dollar proposed Ocean Terminal/Casino development, at North Kirra/Bilinga, on the 19th January, 2014. Surfing and non-surfing community are convinced that if the latest proposal for North Kirra/Bilinga goes ahead, its size and impact will wipeout Kirra forever. Save Our Southern Beaches Alliance, one of the leading NGOs behind the protest, is aiming at one of the biggest demonstrations yet seen on the Gold Coast, since the 2009 Australia Day Paddle Out, at Kirra Point. Back then, 1500 surfers paddled out and 5,000 kept on the beach.
